About me…
I have been counselling people from various groups for over 20 years, I love my work and am passionate about working with people who want to change and who are open to trying new ways of working. I am particularly passionate about self-esteem, as I feel this subject covers a wide range of issues. As someone who had low self-esteem for many years and who has researched the subject for over 20 years, it is an issue I feel particularly passionate about. Self-esteem impacts all areas of our lives. Low self-esteem has an impact on our work and our relationships, but most of all the relationship we have with ourselves. Once we build up our self-esteem and learn to deeply love and respect ourselves, we can see dramatic changes in all aspects of our lives and relationships.
I am culturally Irish, and from a working-class background. My family is now multicultural, as I was fortunate enough to have been raised by parents who celebrated differences - something quite unusual in the 1960’s - but which has had a significant impact on my life and work. I was raised in a family of many diverse cultures and identities, and I continue to reflect that openness and respect for difference in my work today.
I am constantly training as I like to keep up to date with new therapies. It is a passion of mine to support others in navigating their life journey, whatever that looks like. I love mindfulness, yoga, meditation, nutrition and healthy living.
I initially started my career in residential rehab with people who had addictions, eating disorders and Obsessive compulsive behaviours. I have also worked within the charity sector for many years and for the NHS. I have experience working with a variety of clients over the years with issues including- Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Abuse, Addiction, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Eating disorders, Grief, miscarriage and infant loss etc.

TESTIMONIALS
“Susan has been a complete lifeline to me and a grounding force when I felt afloat. When I began my sessions with Susan my self-worth and esteem was very low, I was in a relationship that I had lost confidence in and was suffering with the aftershocks of sexual assault. Slowly and gently over time Susan has helped me realise my own worth and power. I have never felt stronger.” Hattie (Oct 2021)

WORK WITH ME
I offer a warm, welcoming, safe, and confidential space to explore anything that you need to. There may be tears and revelations, but also laughter and shared moments of joy. Counselling is about coming back to yourself, improving your relationship with who you are and creating a life that you want to live. Humour and honesty are just as important as compassion and openness, and you will find all these qualities in our work together.
